The Balywik two-panel footbag was produced in the United States by Jarrett
Enterprises for only one year from 1983 to 1984. This deerskin leather
model was the first mass-produced footbag to challenge the strength of the
patented two-panel Hacky Sack. It’s short life span was attributed to being
a blatant design knock-off, and the fact that it contained 100% natural
barley filler which was ravaged by mice when left unattended and sprouted
if it ever got wet. The Balywik name would later be sold to soccer giant,
Brine, and new, non-infringing, “plastic pellet” filled Balywik models would
be introduced.
